How to Fix the #1 Freelancing Problem That Stops You From Moving Forward

My path into freelancing was the same as most people’s:

  1. Dream about going freelance for years.
  2. Research it like crazy as it seems too good to be true.
  3. Make yourself sick with inaction.
  4. Realising that the perfect moment will never come so you just go for it.

A few months later… you realise that you’ve done it.

Glory.

So what’s the problem?

You quickly become aware of how inconsistent your business is…

Everything’s going great for months and then everything gets turned on its head: weeks of no clients. DEMONIC projects. Stress. Feeling stuck — all the things you feared.

I kept these problems to myself as I felt embarrassed each time I found myself on a barren run. But talking with other freelancers — and pouring my freelance guts here on Medium — I realised I wasn’t alone.

It became clear that all of my problems stemmed from one major problem: I wasn’t treating my business like a business.
